Woman held for posting fake details on adult sites

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Police cyber cell has arrested the mastermind who had allegedly tried to defame two Jadavpur women — both online and offline — over two months. The cops said accused Najia Rehman was a neighbour of the victims.
Rehman had fled her residence when her aide Gaurav Verma was arrested. She returned home on Wednesday morning to collect some cash and was arrested.TOI was the first to highlight the case two weeks ago.
“During questioning, the accused claimed that she “felt harassed” by the victims and needed the help of Verma, who knew the technical aspects, to get even with them. We are investigating the case,” said an officer.
“We had an argument with Rehman earlier, but never thought she could go to such lengths to harass us. It is really comforting that the police arrested the real culprit and her aide,” said one of the victims.
