Woman falls into well in cowshed, dies

KOLKATA: Just a day after a 50-year-old man fell into a well and died in Domjur, a woman in her forties met with a similar fate after she slipped into a well in a cowshed in Kamarhati late on Monday evening.
Urmila Singh, 45, a resident of Prasad Nagar at Kamarhati, had gone to the cowshed to collect milk on Monday. On her way back, a cow suddenly rushed towards her.She fell into a well when she tried to escape from the raging cow.
Locals managed to pull up Urmila from the well after an hour-long rescue operation. She was immediately taken to Kamarhati Sagar Dutta State General Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
A complaint was lodged by her husband Uday Singh, a senior official of Uluberia Jute mill, against the owner of the cowshed. Police have started an investigation.
