on January 14 after Kajal and Sandip took him there from the Sodepur flat, where two bullets were pumped into him, one in his head and the other, chest.

The police have also rounded up Prashant Kumar Singh, Vishal Menon and Shyamsundar Rao, the three friends of Sandip, who studies MBA at Vishakapatnam. While Prashant, Sandip’s classmate at the Vizag B-school, was picked up from his Durgapur home, Menon and Rao were arrested from Jamshedpur. On interrogation, the police learnt that Sandip had asked the three to reach the Sodepur flat between midnight and 1am on Monday.

While Kajal and Sandip were remanded in police custody for 10 days by a Barasat court on Saturday, Menon and Rao are being brought here on transit remand from a Jamshedpur court.

Prashant flew into Kolkata on the evening of January 12 and boarded an app cab from the airport for Sodepur. Menon and Rao took a train from Jamshedpur to Howrah station. From there, they reached Sodepur in a taxi. The trio met near Ramua’s Sodepur flat and rang the bell at the building gate. Sandip climbed down from the second-floor flat, opened the main gate and asked his friends to go up to their flat, while he remained downstairs, police said. As the trio walked into the flat where Ramua was asleep, Kajal reportedly handed them Ramua’s revolver, which he kept beside his pillow. The three fired two shots at Ramua, one in his head and another in the chest. As the gangster bled, the three fled, police said. Kajal and Sandip alerted neighbours and took Ramua to Panihati State general Hospital where he was declared dead.

DCP Zone II of Barrackpore Police Ananda Roy said, “We found several inconsistencies in the mother and son’s statements. Sleuths said they knew Ramua carried a revolver, but the Kajal and Sandip pleaded ignorance a”bout it. After the cops found the revolver in the flat on Friday, the two broke down and confessed to the crime.”
