West Bengal: Rs 40 lakh looted from S 24 Pgns bank

KOLKATA: A gang of three armed robbers barged into the Bakeswar branch of UCO Bank near Bishnupur railway station on Wednesday afternoon and decamped with cash and jewellery around Rs 40 lakhs.
The bike-borne masked youths reached the branch around 3.40pm and entered as customers. The branch did not have security guards. Bank officials said staffers and customers were locked in a separate rooms.
Bishnupur inspector-in charge Mainak Banerjee said they are examining CCTV footage of the branch.
