KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee reshuffled her cabinet on Monday and in the rejig the CM replaced singer Babul Supriyo as tourism minister with another singer Indranil Sen.

Babul who was earlier tourism and IT minister, will now be the minister-in-charge for IT along with non-conventional and renewable energy.

Indranil Sen, who is MoS for information and cultural affairs department and holds independent charge for technical education and skill development department will now also hold independent charge of tourism department.

It might be recalled that during the last cabinet meeting on August 28, there was a tiff between the two ministers Sen and Babul. Babul had even asked Sen not to interfere in his matters while leaving the assembly, where the cabinet meeting was held.

Arup Roy who had been the cooperative affairs minister since 2011 was also replaced and was given charge of horticulture and food processing, while panchayat minister Pradip Mazumdar was given additional charge of the cooperative department.

Meanwhile, Jyotipriya Mullick who is the forest minister and had to give up the non-conventional and renewable energy department to Babul, was given charge of the public enterprises and industrial reconstruction (PE&IR) department. Earlier this PE&IR department was earlier with industries and commerce minister, Sashi Panja who also holds social welfare along with women and child development departments.

The environment department was with Bengal CM, but as Md. Ghulam Rabbani was removed from the horticulture and food processing department so he was given charge of the environment department.
