As cops arrived at Andulberia High School and news spread, anxious parents rushed to the area. Police detained three students for interrogation, but later produced two Class X students before the Juvenile Justice Board. The two students had allegedly threatened to kill the school's watchman on Friday after he questioned them about carrying a bicycle seat and reported it to their teachers.

The main accused denied all charges and said: "We did not threaten anyone with murder. I found the pistol in a bush and took it to school." Some guardians complained that the accused student, nephew of the local panchayat pradhan, had taken the firearm from home.

Mustafijur Rahman, a guardian, said: "We are scared because a boy entered the school with a pistol. Anything could have happened."

Jahangir Molla, the watchman, recounted: "I noticed two students leaving the school with a cycle seat on Friday and stopped them. They threatened to kill me and one of them came with a pistol."

Teacher-in-charge Jahangir Alam said it was tough to always keep vigil over 2,500 students. "We have decided to check every student as they attend prayers and go to their classrooms from Monday," he said.
