Emergency services remained suspended across all hospitals for fourth consecutive day resulting in harassment of thousands of patients coming from far flung areas.

The junior doctors have been agitating since Tuesday demanding security for themselves in government hospitals, after two of their colleagues were attacked and seriously injured allegedly by relatives of a patient who died at the NRS Medical College and Hospital.

"We cannot force you to join work but we can appeal to your conscience which is very active. We know you are pained to see patients without going treatment for so many days. Is there anyway you can reconsider your decision? Your movement is genuine and fair. We are with you. But please do something for these helpless people who depend on you," said Sen.

Kaushik Sen told the doctors he was shocked at the tough stance of the chief minister and her administration. "When she visited SSKM on Thursday I thought the problem will be resolved in a few minutes. But the language that was used was inappropriate. But I will urge you to please reconsider your decision," said Kaushik.
