Violence in Domkal: One shot dead
KOLKATA: Domkal turned out to be the most violent assembly segment with one death, two critical and several others injured. The killing of a CPM polling agent at around 8am created panic in the area and many voters left for home in a hurry.
The polling agent was shot dead from a close range. Two other CPM men Rintu Mondal and Akhtarul Mondal were injured in another incident when they were shot at near a polling booth.

The two were admitted to Murshidabad hospital. Several voters were also injured in the clash and bombings. CPM blamed the Trinamool for the violence, while Trinamool blamed that the violence was a result of clash between Congress and CPM.
In Domkal the equation of nexus between CPM and Congress has not worked out, as CPM's former Anisur Rahman is contesting here while Trinamool MP Mannan Hossain's son S Hossain is contesting as a Trinamool candidate. The EC had ordered the DM to submit a report on the violence.
Former IPS officer Nazrul Islam who is contesting as a Mulnibashi candidate from Domkal said that he had repeatedly urged the EC to take steps, but there was police inaction. "You can see the level of violence going on in Domkal."
