Bomb attacks, clashes disrupt Nandigram cooperative polls
Nandigram: Cooperative election in Nandigram's Kanchannagar village turned violent, with reports of bomb-throwing and clashes. The unrest erupted on Sunday afternoon and continued even after police arrived at the scene.Trinamool accused BJP of orchestrating the attacks, releasing an audio recording which it claims features a BJP neta discussing plans to incite violence the day before. "This is a local incident. BJP, sensing its impending defeat, tried to foment violence. We have audio evidence of it. Police are aware of the situation and should act appropriately," said TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.BJP functionary and former Tamluk MP Dibyendu Adhikari later visited the area and confronted police officers, resulting in a temporary suspension of voting. However, police regained control, allowing polling to resume. "Section 144 has been imposed in the booth area since yesterday. Camps are supposed to be set up 100 metres away. Yet, Trinamool is blatantly mocking this. One of our leaders was injured in the head. As a result, I couldn't cast my vote," said BJP's Tamluk organisational district general secretary Meghnad Pal.
