KOLKATA: It was not merely a trip down the memory lane but something more than that, as rich as the history of the college itself.
Every year, the much awaited Presidency College ex-students'' reunion is organised by the alumni association of the college as part of the founder''s day programme. Scientist Anjali Mukherjee is attending the event for the past eight years.
"When I was a student, we were not allowed to attend the event. We used to peep through the window of the physics department and watch people with grey hair laughing and hugging each other. Now its our turn," she gushed.
For former deputy general manager of ONGC, Amitava Mukherjea, the reunion is a coming together of four batchmates of 1960, as also of the first batch of the bengali department, or the remaining few. Justice Chittotosh Mukherjee, a student of the 1948 batch, was happy to be there again. His batchmate Ramendranath Mukherjee was back with a different nostalgia.
"We are studying in this college for seven generations". The Gen X that flocked around the lawn were visibly excited. "It''s a chance to see our famous predecessors," exclaimed Jayeeta, first-year physiology student. The event was collage of beautiful moments but the best was probably a young mother pointing out to her two-year-old kid: "This my college."
