Two Vande Bharat trains to Ranchi, Patna

Kolkata: Bengal is set to get two more Vande Bharat Express trains as PM Narendra Modi will virtually flag off nine of these trains on Sunday. The new rakes for the Patna-Howrah and Ranchi-Howrah routes will have 25 added features, railway officials said.
The Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat via Tatanagar will stop at Muri, Purulia, Chandil and Kharagpur. The Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat will halt at Asansol and Jasidih.

The commercial run of the Vande Bharat Express between Patna and Howrah is set to begin soon, after two successful trials. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will flag off the inaugural run via video conferencing. This will be the second Vande Bharat Express for Bihar, following the introduction of the Patna-Ranchi route in June. The train will cover a distance of 535 km in approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes, making it the fastest direct rail connection between Patna and Kolkata. The exact fare is yet to be determined. A new set of Vande Bharat Express trains will be inaugurated on September 24, including one from Tirunelveli junction. The train will have stops at Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, and Villupuram. The Vijayawada-Chennai train will run via Renigunta and cater to passengers heading to Tirupati. The commercial run of the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express will also begin soon, with the prime minister flagging off the inaugural run. The train will cover a distance of 535 km in about 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Stones thrown at Vande Bharat Express in city

The Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express was targeted by miscreants for the third time, resulting in damage to the train's windowpane. The incident occurred near Malhaur railway station, and an FIR has been filed against an unknown person. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is reviewing the CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events. Previous incidents of stone pelting on the train occurred in August and July.
