Two killed, nine injured in accidents across city

KOLKATA: Two persons were killed and nine injured in nine accidents across the city between Wednesday night and Thursday. Around 8.15pm on Thursday, a middle-aged woman was run over by a private bus on Canning Street near Brabourne Road. She was taken to Medical College Hospital, where she was declared dead. Her identity is yet to be ascertained.
Another man in his 50s, cycling along APC Road opposite Rajabazar tram depot, was killed on Wednesday when he was hit by a truck around 10pm.

The victim, Md Saukat, was a resident of Potopara Lane in Narkeldanga.
Around 1.30pm on Thursday, a 44-year-old auto rickshaw passenger, Supriya Das, suffered severe injuries on her left arm and is currently undergoing treatment at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan when the autorickshaw keeled over on Rasbehari Avenue near Panditiya Road crossing.Earlier on Thursday, around 8.30am, a youth on a bike collided with a scooter driven by a 45-year-old man. His wife was riding pillion.
The accident injured all three of them on Raja Rammohan Roy Sarani near City College. They were however discharged after preliminary treatment. In another accident on Thursday, a 35-year-old pedestrian, Swarupa Sarkar was knocked down by a bus on APC Road. Another pedestrian, Priyanka Mondal, was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Girish Avenue.
In another accident, a 36-year-old biker, Rahul Das was injured when he was hit by an auto rickshaw on Rasbehari Avenue near Fern Road. Another biker was injured on Harish Mukherjee Road near AJC Bose Road crossing when the bike was hit by a car around 8am. On Wednesday night, a biker Amiya Kumar Lodh (50), was knocked down by a vehicle near Gwalior Ghat on Strand Road.
