Tremors felt in West Bengal as 5.6 magnitude earthquake hits Bangladesh

KOLKATA: Various parts of West Bengal experienced tremors on Saturday morning due to a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that struck neighboring Bangladesh.

According to National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at around 9.05am at a depth of 55 km .

"Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.6, Occurred on 02-12-2023, 09:05:31 IST, Lat: 23.15 & Long: 90.89, Depth: 55 Km, Location: Bangladesh, India," the NCS said on X.

As of now, no damage reported in any part of the state said West Bengal Disaster Management Department.

Kolkata Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation officials have also confirmed that no reports of damage to life or property have been received from the eastern metropolis.
