KOLKATA:
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday approved the transfer 11 IPS officers across the state. This is the first major reshuffle among the rank and file of the police after Mamata took over the chief ministership of West Bengal on May 20.
Among the notable changes, Supratim Sarkar, the deputy commissioner of Kolkata Police, will take charge as joint CP (traffic).
Similarly, K Jairaman, the superintendent of police of East Midnapore, has been promoted as DIG (CID operations).
Ashok Kumar Prasad, an officer in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), will take charge as SP East Midnapore.
Rahul Srivastav, the superintendent of police of North-24 Parganas, has also been promoted as DIG (vigilance). Rajesh Kumar Singh, who was commandant (armed police, 1st battalion), has been given the charge of DIG (armed police).
Debabrata Das, the additional superintendant of police (Salt Lake), has been transferred to the armed police as deputy commandant.
Ranendra Nath Banerjee will take Das’s place. At present, Banerjee is ASP (rural) of South-24 Parganas.
Sabyasachi Raman Mishra, the commandant (armed police, 2nd battalion), will take over as superintendent of police, Nadia district.
