KOLKATA: Three student diploma films from
Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) have been selected for the Indian Panorama section of 48th International Film Festival of India.
On Thursday, Kunjila's 'Gi', R K Soren's `Epil' and Vaibhav Hiwase's `Palash' made it to the list of 16 selected non-feature films. Said SRFTI director

Speaking about her Malayalam film, Kunjila said it is about Gi who lives with Appachan, her grandfather. Both deal with different realities.
Hiwase's Bengali film titled `Palash' is about three characters who live in an isolated space. “I have explored complex emotions where love becomes violent and suffocating,“ Hiwase said. The protagonist of Soren's Santhali language film is a little girl called Epil. “I shot the film in Khulam near

Two other Bengali non-feature films -Supriyo Sen's 'Our Grandparents Home' and Chandrasish Ray's `Dugga' -have also been selected. In the feature film section,
Anik Dutta's 'Meghnad Bodh Rahasya', Pratim D Gupta's `Maacher Jhol' and
Kaushik Ganguly's `Bisorjon' made the cut.
Ganguly , whose films have made it to Indian Panorama section eight times in a row, said, “This only reinforces my belief that I'm on the right path.“
