KOLKATA: Three nurses were injured one of them critically after a patient attacked them in the nursing home in the week hours of Thursday. The 27-year-old patient,
Subir Saha who was admitted for dengue has fled the hospital after the attack. Police is yet to trace the man.
According to hospital sources the dengue patient from Burdwan was brought to

(AAMI) around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. According to hospital the patient’s platelet count was low and he was put in the ICU bed.
Around 5:30 am, the patient suddenly turned violent. He picked up the saline stand in his hands and started smashing the head of a nurse who was taking care of him. Hearing the cries of the nurse other nurses rushed in. The man kept attacking everyone who came his way. Even the security guards and the resident medical officer were not spared.
“I rushed to the nursing home on being informed about the incident. We immediately rushed two nurses who were seriously injured to

(INK) while the third nurse whose injury were not serious is getting treated in our own facility,” said Dr Harsh Agarwal, who runs the 59-bedded nursing home located in Gariahat.
The two nurses fighting for life at INK are V Victoria and Shipra Mondal. Doctors said the condition of one of them are seriously injures. The entire episode of the attack has been captured in the CCTV camera installed inside the hospital ward.
Officers of Gariahat police station investigating into the case said Saha was absconding since the attack. “We had sent a team of officers to the address at

village mentioned in the register but he was not there. We are trying to arrest him at the earliest,” said the officer.
Hospital sources also said that few family members who accompanied the patient to the nursing home fled after the incident.
