Teen stabbed to death in Howrah

HOWRAH: The mutilated body of a 19-year-old was recovered on Monday from a lane near his house at Jagachha in Howrah. A loaded revolver was found near the body, prompting police to think he was involved in crime.
The victim, Souvik Dutta, was home for most of the day on Sunday and even watched the IPL cricket matches on television. Around 11 pm, he left for a stroll in his neighbourhood of Soumyachanditala in Jagachha's Ichhapur.

He did not return home at night.
Early next morning, his body was found near the end of the lane leading to his house. It bore multiple injuries caused by a sharp weapon. The teenager was often seen chatting with his friends at the same spot.
A grocer's son, Souvik had given up studies after clearing his Madhyamik three years ago. Since then, he took up with criminals and goons, many of them from outside the locality. Police suspect Souvik's family members and neighbours had some idea about his shady activities and know who murdered him.
"It is strange that the boy's family did not start looking for him at night itself. It looks like he was murdered on the spot. The lane is quite narrow with houses on either side. The neighbours must have heard a commotion, but nobody looked out to see what happened. His family members said they were scared to leave their house at night. We are still not sure about what they were scared of," a senior police officer said.
Investigators suspect that the revolver found on the spot belonged to Souvik. One of his friends from the same locality, Rajesh Dutta, is missing since Monday morning.
It is also being suspected that Souvik may have been involved in a murder committed at Melatala in the same police station area recently. The body of Sujit Thakur, an anti-social, was recovered from the area on Sunday. Souvik was known to frequent the same locality. Police are not ruling out the possibility of the boy being killed for revenge.
