Teen jumps to death
A 14-year-old girl committed suicide on Thursday by jumping off the ninth-floor balcony of Amherst Street police station staff quarters.
Hritika's father works in the detective department of Kolkata Police. Sources said that ill health had forced Hritika, a Class-VIII student of Calcutta Girls High School, to remain confined at home for the past few months on several occasions.
After primary investigations, police have found that she had been depressed over the last two days after her parents refused to let her go for a school picnic.
In another incident, Partho Pratim Chatterjee (26) committed suicide by jumping off his Nehru Colony residence at Regent Park.
