Kolkata: Leader of opposition

Suvendu Adhikari

has moved Calcutta High Court against the police raid at his

Nandigram

MLA office without a warrant on Sunday. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha admitted the petition and will take up the matter for hearing on Thursday.
Adhikari on Tuesday drew the court’s attention to “police going hyper” and prayed for an urgent hearing.
The police force, including women constables, surrounded the office on Sunday afternoon and made inquiries about Adhikari’s chamber before entering the locked premises. The police came a day after the CBI served notices on nine Trinamool Congress leaders, including Abu Taher, asking them to appear for questioning over BJP worker Debabrata Maiti’s murder in post-poll violence.
Adhikari came down heavily on the Mamata Banerjee government after Sunday’s police action.
“Mamata Police (WB Police) barged into my official legislative karjyalaya at Nandigram without prior intimation. They didn’t carry a search warrant and the entire operation was done in the absence of a magistrate. This is a lamentable and vicious act,” he tweeted on Sunday.
