SUCI wants all SIR enrollees in voter list

Kolkata: SUCI state secretary Chandidas Bhattacharya on Friday demanded that everyone who filled enumeration forms during the SIR process be included in the voter list, warning that removing millions — a majority of them women — would make the election "a farce".

"In Bengal, 91 lakh names have been removed with no avenue for appeal. The EC is acting as a BJP stooge to introduce NRC through the backdoor," he said. He noted that even SUCI's former MP and a retired High Court judge had been deleted. Bhattacharya also criticised the CPM for again aligning with what he called a communal party.
