Kolkata: The Bengal Principals’ Council election was held on Sunday after the committee members demanded the removal of Subires Bhattacharya from the president’s post and called for a fresh election for a new committee. Bhattacharya was removed and an election was held on Sunday, in which 71 out of 105 members participated.
Shyamalendu Chatterjee of Chittaranjan College was elected as president, Indranil Kar of Surendranath College as secretary and Subrata Roy as treasurer of the new committee.
Ahead of this month, a section of the organisation’s members held a press conference, complaining that Subires Bhattacharya was operating as the president of the organisation from jail.
