Student's body found
The body of a hotel management student was found floating in the Hooghly on Monday morning near the Kolkata dock.
Relatives of Mrityunjay Kumar alleged that he was murdered. South Port police have started a murder case and detained two of his friends for interrogation.
Kumar, from Bihar’s Jamalpur, was a final-year student at Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition in Taratala.
Kumar went to meet two friends, Sanjib Jha and Johnson Ekka, at the docks on January 17. Both said Kumar had left around 9 pm. A missing complaint was lodged with Behala police on January 19. Johnson and Jha have been detained. An autopsy indicated that Kumar was drunk when he drowned.
