KOLKATA: The state government aims to attain self sufficiency in milk production within 10 years, state animal resources minister Anisur Rahman said at a programme in Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Rahman was speaking at a foundation stone laying ceremony of a building at Salt Lake''s sector III that will house offices of state animal resources department and its allied organisations.

"Most of our offices are scattered all over the state, which results in enormous wastage of resources. This building once completed will bring all the organisations under one roof," Rahman said.
The state is now meeting nearly 60 per cent of its milk requirements through local production, he said.
State finance minister Asim Dasgupta, who laid the foundation stone of the proposed building, said the state had made rapid strides in milk production and reiterated his colleague''s commitment to attain self-sufficiency in milk production within a decade.
