Sourav Ganguly’s brother down with dengue

KOLKATA: Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly’s elder brother Snehasish was diagnosed with

dengue

on Wednesday. He is undergoing treatment at Belle Vue

Clinic

, under doctor Swapan Sarkar.

“The patient is under conservatory treatment for dengue and his condition is stable,” said Pradip Tandon, Belle Vue CEO.

According to hospital sources, Snehasish, also a former

Bengal

cricketer, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning as he had been complaining of fever. After assessing his symptoms, doctors decided to examine his blood samples, which tested positive for dengue. His platelet count was reported to be 1,68,000 on Wednesday.

While the official number of dengue deaths in state this year stands at 35, unofficial records say that the toll is 50. Around 12,600 people have been affected by the virus so far.
