Officers from the Nadial police station arrested Imran Hossain alias Immu (21) from Yaub Nagar near Kidderpore on Saturday night. A history-sheeter, Immu was arrested with a country-made pistol, loaded with two rounds of ammunition, claimed the police.

The next morning, the police, acting on a tip-off, raided the Picnic Garden area and recovered a large amount of gunpowder and ingredients to make bombs from a house. Five persons were arrested.

The police are interrogating the five to find out which political party had engaged them to make bombs before the elections.
