KOLKATA: Films Division will organise an International Short Film Festival showcasing award-winning short, documentary and animation films from May 31 to April 4 at Nandan-II.
Film maker Mrinal Sen will inaugurate the festival which will screen 43 films from the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, France, UK, Australia and India.
Most of the films have won awards at Mumbai International Film Festival 2002.
War and Peace by Anand Patwardhan will be the inaugural film.
One of the major attractions of the festival will be the section titled “Best of FD Films on West Bengal�.
Inner Eye by Satyajit Ray, Subho Tagore by Shanti P Chaudhury, A Silent Art by Surajit Das Gupta, Moving Perspectives, Tagore’s Ode To Nature by Ranbir Roy and Durbargati Padma by Ritwik Ghatak comprise this package.
Besides films, a seminar on “Crisis in Documentary Film-making� will be held on June 2 at Nandan. Speakers include Arbind Sinha, Siladithaya Sen, Rituparna Chaudgar and Vidyarthy Chatterjee with Jagannath Guha as the moderator.
