Sholay's Gabbar re-emerges, with a 'clean' image

NEW DELHI: Sholay's Gabbar Singh is curious, not about the price on his head, but the penalty for disposing waste at a wrong place. His accomplice Samba has the answer, "purey 500" (Rs 500).

You can see this unlikely Sholay

poster

on the platforms of the Howrah railway station these days.

The Howrah Division of Eastern

Railways

has come up with a novel way to provide fillip to the '

Swachh Rail

Swachh Bharat' initiative. And what better way to connect than through snapshots and dialogues from

Bollywood

blockbusters, that have become part of the common dialect?

The campaign posters are catching the attention of daily commuters.

Not far from the Gabbar poster, one can see the philosophical Rajesh Khanna from Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Anand, with his famous "Babumoshai," that for the rest of India has almost become the standard to greet a friend from Bengal. What follows, is a not lecture on the unpredictability of life, but a dig at littering- "Kab, kaun, kahan kura girayega, yeh koi nahin bata sakta." (No one knows when, where, who will throw litter)

Also seen are Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor from Deewar. The famous "Mere paas ma hai" scene has been recast to sound a warning to those in the habit of spraying walls with pan extracts.
