kolkata: the bidhannagar south police station has formed a police level committee comprising eminent persons from different walks of life, following a directive issued by the state home ministry. the committee, aiming to create a platform for the people and the police to interact in general, drew up a blueprint for a smooth handling of puja. initially, the committee decided to release a book titled poolish o nagarik on november 25 at the nalban boating complex.
this book of archival value shall contain writings from people from different fields as well as the police top brass, said subir mondal, a member of the committee in charge of the publication. the book shall also contain rare cartoons and photographs of the police and their daily activities, he elaborated. biplab bagchi, officer in charge of bidhannagar police station and convener of the committee, said, while issuing the clearance certificates to 40 puja committees within my periphery, we issued a programme list urging these to organise recitation competitions, rabindrasangeet and nazrulgeeti competitions and also hold discussions on the relationship between the people and the police, which all the committees adhered to. according to bagchi, the outcome of the discussions shall be sent to the state home ministry. we want to know the opinion of the young, particularly those who have just attained their voting rights, he added.
