KOLKATA: Anindya Sengupta, the Salt Lake councilor who was arrested on multiple charges of extortion was denied bail by the additional chief judicial magistrate of Bidhannagar court at Mayukh Bhavan in Salt Lake on Monday.
His bail plea was rejected after the judge accepted the police’s plea that Chatterjee was an influential person and if allowed bail, he could hamper the investigation.
This is the third time Chatterjee’s bail plea was rejected by the court since he was arrested on July 12 on the basis of a complaint by BD block resident Santosh Lodh.
His two associates, Mohd Naseem and Sindhu Kundu who were also produced at the court along with him were too denied bail and sent to judicial custody for another 14 days along with Chatterjee.
