JALPAIGURI: The inquiry committee probing the alleged irregularities in the primary teacher recruitments in Jalpaiguri has ordered the immediate removal of Mrinal Paul, the chairman of the district primary school council (DPSC).
The committee has also asked the Jalpaiguri administration to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Kaushik Roy, the DI, primary, who is also the secretary of Jalpaiguri DPSC.
Members of the committee found that Roy did not carry out his responsibilities.
According to a letter from the secretary of the school education department that reached Jalpaiguri DM Vandana Yadav on Thursday, there has been a "violation of normal administrative norms and decorum". The secretary has asked the DM to remove the DPSC chairman and start disciplinary proceedings against the DI, primary. "The DI, primary, will also be removed. For government employees, the process is begun with a disciplinary proceeding," Yadav said. The letter to the DM mentions that anyone found to have received undue favours would have his or her service discontinued.
Headed by T K Adhikary, the joint secretary of the state's education department, the other members of the inquiry committee are Umapada Chatterjee, the state project director, Sarba Siksha Abijan, Swapan Roy, deputy director of school education, and two assistant directors of school education Tapan Pandit and Abhijit Saha.
