Rouvanjit case hearing on March 5

The magisterial reference to the chief judge, city sessions court, to consider charging four teachers of La Martiniere for Boys' School under Section 305 IPC for abetting the suicide of Class-VIII student, Rouvanjit Rawla, will now be heard on March 5 in the fast- track third court of judge Rabindranath Mallik.

KOLKATA: The magisterial reference to the chief judge, city sessions court, to consider charging four teachers of La Martiniere for Boys' School under Section 305 IPC for abetting the suicide of Class-VIII student, Rouvanjit Rawla, will now be heard on March 5 in the fast- track third court of judge Rabindranath Mallik.
Chief judge Dipak Saha Ray assigned the case to Mallik, who said in court on Thursday that he had just received the relevant papers and needed time to go through them.

The four accused teachers, including principal Sunirmal Chakravarthy, were in the fast- track third court along with their lawyers Pradip Ghosh and Debanjan Mondal.
Also present were Amit Bhattacharya and Joymalya Bagchi, lawyers of Rouvanjit's father Ajay Rawla, who is pressing for trying the accused under Section 305 IPC.
Rouvanjit had hanged himself at home last February.
