RKM colleges, Xavier’s, Loreto list dates, criteria for applications
Kolkata: Autonomous colleges and institutes with minority status, which can stay out of the state government’s centralised, undergraduate admission process, have published their criteria for entrance to their courses. St Xavier’s, RKM colleges, Loreto and Scottish Church are among the institutes, which will go by their own process, admitting students either on entrance exams or based on boards marks. At Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, candidates applying for science subjects, barring zoology, microbiology and biology, must have 60% or above in maths. “At Ramakrishna Vidyamandira, aggregate marks for state board students will be calculated on their scores in Bengali, English and top three subjects, excluding the two languages and environmental studies. For other boards, top four subjects, excluding environmental studies, will be considered,” said an official of the RKM college in Belur. All RKM colleges will close their application process on June 13. At St Xavier’s College, for UG admission to any course other than Bengali Honours, candidates must have had English in their Plus-II and passed the subject in boards. “Applications of students failing in English or not having English in Plus-II will be cancelled. So applicants must read the criteria carefully before filling forms,” said an official of the autonomous institute that will announce the last date of application later. Scottish Church has set certain criteria, like candidates for economics must pass in boards maths and students can apply for chemistry only if they have passed in physics, chemistry and maths.
