Resto forum seeks return to 48-hour ban
The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has written to the state excise directorate, requesting to revert to the earlier 48-hour ban on liquor sales during elections and limit the restriction to poll-bound constituencies. NRAI chapter head Piyush Kankaria wrote to the excise directorate commissioner: "The hospitality sector is currently under extreme strain, grappling with severe LPG supply disruptions and an unrelenting surge in input costs that have pushed many establishments to the brink. In this fragile situation, the imposition of an extended prohibition would be devastating, potentially forcing closures, jeopardising livelihoods and pushing an already struggling industry into a crisis from which recovery would be difficult." tnn
