Kolkata: Animal rights activists, including a group of actors, have written to Lok Sabha MP and animal rights campaigner Maneka Gandhi and Haridevpur police station to expedite the investigation into the mysterious death of five puppies at a residential complex in Joka whose preliminary post-mortem report hinted at death due to poisoning
TOI had reported last week how bodies of five puppies were recovered — one after another — inside the residential complex in Joka on Diamond Harbour Road.
On Friday and Saturday, a team of animal rights activists, including actors like
Tathagata Mukherjee, Debaleena Dutt, Srilekha Mitra and Kanchana Maitra, went to the complex to speak to the residents. They then went to the police station with some residents seeking justice.
“We demand justice for the puppies,” said Dutt. Mukherjee said that during their visit to the complex they found residents of all towers, barring Tower 23, were willing to share CCTV footage.
