HOOGHLY: West Bengal fire services minister
Pratim Chatterjee was prevented by locals from entering a village in this district for election campaigning on Monday. It was a replay of his experience in another rural area a day earlier.
Chatterjee alleged during a meeting at Ramnagar village that a local maulavi accompanied him to Mochpur village on Monday, when some miscreants asked the maulavi to leave.
Meanwhile, disgruntled locals alleged that their economic condition had not improved over the years.
A day earlier, Chatterjee had along with his party workers gone to Mathpur. However, most chose to ignore him and a few that met him told him to leave. They complained that Chatterjee's men had been arriving with false job promises.
Tarakeswar police station officer-in-charge Suprakash Pattanayak said they were probing the case. However, cops said the minister was not assaulted.
