November seems to be a busy month for Sudarshan Chakravorty. The choreographer will be participating in two different festivals in
Port Blair
.
In the first week of November, he will be in Port Blair to attend two festivals. While one is the Island Tourism Festival, the other is called the Octave Festival. “I am the chief choreographer of the Octave Festival. More than 100 artistes are participating from different states of North East. That includes
Nagaland
,
Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh,
Manipur,
Tripura
and Assam. The most interesting aspect of the festival is that I will choreograph all these artists aboard a cruise from Chennai to Port Blair. The artistes will be travelling in a ship and I plan to conduct the workshops during this journey from Chennai to Port Blair. We will start on November 2 and reach Port Blair on November 5.”
This isn’t the first time that Sudarshan will be performing in Port Blair. “Some 21 years ago, I had performed at the Island Tourism Festival in Port Blair. That was my first trip to the island. I have such wonderful memories of that visit. Though I don’t know swimming, I had done snorkeling there. I also remember my trip to the
Cellular Jail
and watching the light-and-sound show there,” he said.
The trip to Jolly Buoy and
Ross Island
is also fresh on his mind. “I was mesmerized with the colour of the sea. I also remember the historic ruins of the Ross Island,” he said. This time around, Sudarshan is keen to pay another visit to the Cellular Jail. “Though the Island Tourism Festival will be held on three days, I will be there in Port Blair only for a day since I have an important meeting to attend on November 7,” he concluded.
