Kolkata: An LPG/LNG terminal management company carrying out ship-to-ship (STS) operations at Sandheads anchorage in the Bay of Bengal has been awarded by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port for successfully carrying out 85 operations despite the choppy conditions during monsoon.
Pace Marine Solutions has been operating out of the Sandheads, an open water port around 112 km south-east of Kolkata port in the Bay of Bengal, since March this year and carried out the STS transfers of liquid LPG before transporting it to Bangladesh.
“When we came here, we were told it was next to impossible to work during monsoon due to the inclement weather. But we took it up as a challenge and have successfully handled operations,” said company MD Pawan Kumar Gupta, adding that the firm was investing Rs 15 crore in port tugs to further enhance operations.
In the last six months, Pace Marine has transferred more than 200,000 tonnes of LPG.
