Ponzi scam: CBI searches 11 premises

Kolkata: The CBI on Monday conducted searches in connection to the probe into a Ponzi firm, at 11 places, including premises in North 24 Parganas, Patna, Agartala and New Delhi. Searches were also conducted on office premises of the company and residential premises of the accused in the case. “Several incriminating documents have been seized during the searches,” said an officer.
CBI had registered a case against firm proprietor Partha Chakraborty and office bearers of Chakra Infrastructure Ltd. It was alleged the accused collected Rs 87 crore from the public on assurance of repaying against a high rate of interest. They later closed the offices without paying. tnn
