KOLKATA: Traffic police put in more men on the road even as a section of guardians adjusted themselves to the new routines – several of them dropping their children to school early.
The traffic bottlenecks reduced to school hours on Tuesday. Vehicles kept moving along Syed Amir Ali Avenue-Suhrawardy Road that have multiple schools. “On certain roads, extra parking during dispersal cannot be avoided at this moment.

This is especially true when the junior sections get dispersed since they are still not accustomed to schools. Things will improve even more by the end of this week when parents and guardians will settle for a routine,” said an officer from Southeast Guard.
Several proposals have been floated by East and Park Circus traffic guards in this regard have already been implemented. While it has been proposed that Darga Road will be made one-way during school hours following the old practice, the thrust is on keeping Suhrawardy Avenue and finally Amir Ali Avenue moving at any cost during the busy hours. Police have also proposed to regulate rallies around 7-point Park Circus crossing and Moulali. All motorists moving towards Science City will be requested to take Maa flyover while only the buses can keep using Darga Road.
The traffic police said that some guardians also met them with specific demands. “They have asked for some extra U-turns since most students are being forced to wait for long before being able to board their buses. We will do whatever is possible,” said an officer.
