Pak-detained jawan’s wife reaches Ferozepur

Rishra/Amritsar: Rajani Shaw, the spouse of BSF jawan Purnam Shaw who was held by Pakistan Rangers after unintentionally crossing the international border in the previous week, arrived in Ferozepur on Monday to meet officials to understand the force's efforts in securing her husband's return.Earlier that morning, a BSF officer visited Shaw Sadan, the Shaw family home in Rishra, to provide renewed assurance about Purnam's well-being. A BSF official, who did not wish to be named, said while a casual contact was made with the Rangers, it yielded no result. BSF has also held as many as three flag meetings with Pakistan Rangers, but officials there have offered no clear response, merely stating they are awaiting instructions from their headquarters."Everyone has been giving me assurances but there has been no development since he was detained by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday. I want to know what negotiations are taking place and what is causing the delay in his release," Rajani said from Chandigarh airport on Monday. She then boarded a BSF vehicle to travel to Pathankot, from where she travelled to Ferozepur. Rajani, who is expecting a child, travelled with her young son Arab, two sisters and a brother-in-law. She said if her discussions at Ferozepur proved insufficient, she would travel to Delhi to request meetings with the Union home ministry and other govt officials.Rajani departed Rishra around 10 am in transport arranged by Rishra municipality chairman Bijoy Sagar Mishra. "I have been with the family since the beginning and will continue to provide whatever help I can," Mishra said. Subsequently, BJP Pursura MLA Biman Ghosh visited the house, expressed solidarity with the family and provided assurances about Purnam's return to India.
