One more arrested in the fake medical board scam
Kolkata: The CID has arrested one more person from Baninagar under Ranaghat police station in Nadia following the investigations in to the fake medical education board. He was identified as Gopinath Sen, the Joint Secretary of the fake education board. He was produced in Krishnagar Court and taken on police remand for nine days.
He will be produced in Court again on 15 May with the other three arrested on Friday in the same case,CID sources said. The CID has confiscated two bank accounts worth more than Rs 50 lakhs. The accounts are with Canara and Axis Banks at their Krishnagar branches, CID said.
The name of the fake organization was also found in Government Gazette, leading CID to question some government officials. "We suspect that some persons in the publication department of Government of India has the link with the fake board," the sources added.
On basis of complaints from Ministry of Health and UGC, the CID had initiated an investigation about the education board. They had arrested three from Nadia 's Krishnagar on Friday for running the fake medical board which has 78 colleges in India under it. So far, CID has claimed that thousands of students have been duped.
