Kolkata: Former I-League-winning coach Kibu Vicuna arrived in the city on Saturday to take charge of Mohammedan Sporting (MSC).
Vicuna — who succeeded Andrey Chernyshov after the club management has decided to part ways with the Russian following a string of poor results — is set to hit the ground running with his new team on Monday.
However, Vicuna, who guided
Mohun Bagan to their I-League triumph in the 2019-2020 season, will have his task cut out given that last season’s runners-up Mohammedan Sporting are now placed ninth on the I-League standings and are yet to win on the road this season, having lost four of their five away matches.
Incidentally, Vicuna’s first
game in charge of Mohammedan Sporting is set to be another away game — against Rajasthan United FC in New Delhi on January 6.
