Neighbour, aides abduct girl, molest her in car, flat

Kolkata: A 21-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by five youths in a moving car in the Kasba area and molested on Friday. She was then taken to an undisclosed location, beaten up and molested again. Three youths, identified as Akash Singh, Rahul Shaw, & Aditya Giri — all aged 21 — have been arrested from a rented apartment in Kalikapur on Monday.The girl was reportedly rescued by one of her male friends. However, there is still no clarity on whether the accused dropped the girl off near her residence in the same car, or whether the friend rescued her from the flat where she was reportedly taken.
The prime accused is believed to be her neighbour. The other accused include the neighbour's cousin and friends. "As a neighbour, she trusted the main accused," an officer said.On Monday, there were allegations that locals had vandalised the accused's cars, but cops have not confirmed it. Sources said that the friend who reportedly rescued the girl is being closely questioned about the incident. Another friend of the girl who saw her walking towards the car after being summoned by the accused is also being examined. According to police sources, the girl was returning home from her aunt's house on Friday night and had rented a cab till the Jahaj Bari area of Kasba. At that time, two local youths — Akash and Ariyan Singh — called out to her. Allegedly, during the conversation, the girl was kidnapped, and her phone was taken away. It is alleged that she was molested in the car and beaten up so that she followed their instructions.The girl had initially said that after the assault, she was dropped off in a nearby spot, and her phone was returned. She had then called a friend to inform him about the incident. Feeling unwell, she went to her friend's house and later, filed a complaint against the youths at Kasba Police Station.
