Natural Grace sprints away
Kolkata: The Army was out in full flow, gracing the lawns of the RCTC in great numbers here on Tuesday. The main race of the afternoon was the running of the Perin Dalal Alokananda Stakes for fillies three-year-olds only run over a sprint. Neil Darashah-nursed Natural Grace, the odds on favourite with Neeraj Rawal astride, sprinted away with Sea Salt Caramel a tame second.

The last name is being licked into winning condition and her turn will come soon.
The Eastern Command Cup was claimed by Javed Khan-saddled Dr Doom in the hands of Neeraj Rawal. Racing a close fifth till the bend and once Neeraj drove the five-year-old along the rails, he won from the fast finishing Kay Star, who should not be allowed to run loose when next sighted.
Rank outsider Mandolin from the stable of Christopher Alford dealt a knockout punch in the Eastern Area Cup. Nikhil Naidu atop the winner had the race in control all the way, with Tenn taking the second spot. There was a big punt on the Glimmer, who was never a force to reckon.
The Army Service Corps (ASC) Cup was bagged by Rajesh Narredu’s Amber Knight with S Saqlain in the saddle. Despite losing plenty of ground at the start, Saqlain did not panic and was seen gradually improving his position. Once into the home straight, Amber Knight cruised past the front runners to victory.
The first division of the Lt. Gen. Jameel Mahmood Memorial Cup was easy picking for Javed Khan-trained odds-on-favourite Toussaint with Neeraj Rawal doing duty in the saddle. The son of Kay Es Jay took over running into the home straight for a comfortable victory. On the other hand, the second division of the same event saw a nail-biting finish between the top-weighted Swift Lady and Rocket Man with the latter coming out trumps in the hands of NS Parmar. The consistent small-made filly Swift Lady, who has a big heart, lives to fight another day.
