Narayan Debnath hospitalised with health complications

on Friday night with

several health issues

. A

team

of four doctors is currently attending Debnath.

According to Archana Debnath, the daughter-in-law of the 97-year-old artist, he was feeling fine on Friday evening, but then his limbs started swelling. “He has had a nagging urine infection problem and so we didn’t take any chance and took him to the hospital,” she said. At the hospital, he was diagnosed with several other issues, including neurological and respiratory problems. It may be mentioned here that Debnath already has a pacemaker installed.

Dr Samarjit Naskar, the critical care physician of the hospital, said given Debnath’s age, all issues can be termed usual and that the artist is currently on supportive medication. “The results of basic tests are positive. But we are yet to determine the future course of action,” he said.
