Musical evening casts a magical spell and sets the tone high with glitz & glamour

Kolkata: Excitement, revelry and excellence took centre stage as the biggest and the only platform to honour Bangla music, Manforce presents Mirchi Music Awards Bangla powered by Shikhar, laid down yet another marker for a cultural event. Music is that glorious entity that can transcend every boundary and overcome the biggest of challenges, including the pandemic.Stars from the music, film and television fraternities thronged ITC Royal Bengal to celebrate Bangla music at the award function that reached epic proportions this year. The process had started much earlier, with the grand jury meet, where some of the most renowned personalities from the Bengali music industry—Usha Uthup, Suparna Kanti Ghosh, Sidhu, Upali Chattopadhyay, Rathijit Bhattacharjee, Prabuddha Banerjee, Gaurab Chatterjee and Upal Sengupta among others—evaluated the songs. Their task was clearly not easy as each song seemed as heart-warming as the other. The jury members engaged in delightful conversations about the lyrics, musical arrangements and, above all, the prowess and finesse of the singers. Some of them even broke into a spontaneous hum, while some shared anecdotes. On the day of the award, the stage came alive with a star-studded programme for Manforce presents Mirchi Music Awards Bangla powered by Shikhar with a galaxy of artistes presenting a power-packed, enthralling show. The event was hosted by the versatile Parambrata and singer Iman Chakraborty with RJs Mirchi Agni and Mirchi Somak playing sterling cameos. Bands being extremely popular among musicians as well as fans alike, Sidhu, a member of Cactus, and singer Trisha paid tribute to some of the most famous musical creations of Bangla bands. Elite composer Jeet Gannguli mesmerised the audience with his enchanting performance, while actor Monami Ghosh set the stage ablaze with her dance moves. Popular band Gen Next paid another tribute to Bangla music legends, like Shyamal Mitra, Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, Salil Chowdhury and Manna Dey. “OMG”, the immensely popular and viral Mirchi property, which is watched over and over again online, was staged at the event, leaving the audience in splits. Hottest couple in Tollywood Ankush-Oindrila gave the audience a performance to remember. In attendance were the who’s who of Bengali entertainment. Prosenjit Chatterjee’s entry added glitz to the dazzling Manforce Mirchi Music Awards Bangla powered by Shikhar. Legendary performer Tanusree Shankar, renowned director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy; director-lyricist-musician Anindya Chatterjee, singers Jayati Chakraborty, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, actors Gaurav Chakrabarty, Ridhima Ghosh, Arunima Ghosh, Madhumita Sarcar and several others were part of the stunning evening.Those who missed out on this spectacular show mustn’t lose heart.
