Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting inched closer to retaining the CFL crown, beating Kidderpore Club 3-0 at the Kalyani Stadium on Friday.
This was the third win on the trot for Andrey Chernyshov’s defending champions, who will face East Bengal — who are already out of reckoning in the championship race — in their final match of the Super Six stage.
Following a barren first half,Marcus Joseph put Mohammedan Sporting ahead, converting a penalty in the 58th minute. Pritam Singh then killed Kidderpore’s all hopes of rescuing something from the game with two quickfire goals at the death (90 and 90+2 minutes).
The black-and-white brigade is leading the standings with nine points, three clear of Bhawanipore Club. tnn
