Minority institutions, like Scottish Church College, St Paul’s College,

St Xavier

’s College, Christian Women’s College, Loreto College, and those under Ramakrishna Mission as well as linguistic minority colleges, like

Shri Shikshayatan

and Bhawanipur Education Society College, said they learnt they can have their own admission procedures.

Sources said minority institutions have their own mechanism and quota system which cannot be brought under the centralised system. Some have already issued notices for inviting application forms for UG courses. However, students are permitted to apply when they get mark sheets.

Though HS results have been announced, mark sheets and certificates will be distributed on June 20. This, sources said, was to allow enough lead time to the department to introduce the centralised admission portal. Officials have asked state-aided colleges to send details of each college so the data can be made available in the portal.

“Usually in UG courses, the admission procedure starts just after the publication of HS results. But this year, the Council has delayed distribution of mark sheets and certificates so that the portal can be ready. Sources in Bikash Bhaban said the portal may take 15 more days.

Loreto College principal

Christine Coutinho

said the college was not part of the centralised system and had, hence, invited application forms for UG courses. “Admission forms are available on the website. Students may apply after their board results are declared,” she said.

Other college authorities, like Scottish Church College, St Paul’s College and Bhawanipur Education Society College, are discussing when to commence the admissions. Scottish Church College principal

Madhumanjari Mandal

said, “We will issue a notice shortly. The process will be the same as last year’s.”

Shri Shikshayatan College has given all the information for choosing subject combinations, but the college authority is waiting for the final instructions from the government before starting online submission. A Bhawanipur Education Society College official said, “HS results have been declared, but results of other boards have not been published. So, once we open the portal, a lot of queries will start coming. We will start the process in the next few days.” St Xavier’s College will conduct its admissions and details will be uploaded soon.
