Two die at rly level crossing
A gateman and a man were run over by a train near a railway level crossing in Purulia on Saturday. They have been identified as Rameswar Roy (37), the gateman, and Gour Kumar (55). Roy spotted Kumar on the tracks near the Durmu level crossing near Jhalda station. As the Down Hatia-Burdwan passenger was approaching, Roy rushed to save him by pulling him away from the tracks.

But the train ran both of them over. Kumar was deaf, police said. PTI
Iisco employee arrested:
CISF officials arrested an employee of Iisco Steel Plant (ISP) for trying to sneak out with 40 kg of ferromanganese from the plant. The officials, acting on a tipoff , intercepted Kanchan Kumar Jha, who was trying to escape through Scob gate.
Pranab to release book:
External affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee will release a book of poems penned by Rajib Ghosh at the Kolkata Press Club on Sunday. Hailing from Murshidabad, Rajib had written to the minister's office and was surprised when Pranab agreed to release his book. His works have been published in 'Desh' , 'Krittibas' and 'Sananda' .
