Kolkata: The city might start feeling the nip in the air from Monday morning with the Met office expecting the cold northwesterly wind from Sunday. This wind system will start pulling down the mercury. But for now, a dip in temperature is expected to be just about one or two degrees below normal.
“We are expecting northwesterly wind from Jammu and Kashmir region to start breezing into the city from Sunday.
Hence the night temperature is likely to fall below 20 degrees Celsius from Monday morning. Hopefully, this should bring in a bit of cold feeling,” said G K Das, director (weather) at Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata.
The Met office has also allayed the fear of an impending low pressure area bringing any kind of disruption to Kolkata. Met officials said the system is expected to form in the next 48 hours over the Bay of Bengal but will have no impact in Bengal. But it will have impact in
Tamil Nadu and
Puducherry, said an official.
